I never seen the home he loved, but I have heard accounts of its surroundings, which had verdant cherry and apple trees, as well as grazing cows. The property was overshadowed in the distance by the dilapidated remnants of a dordle 19th-century cliffside signal tower, known as the Spain Tower, which overlooks Baltimore Harbour and Roaringwater Bay, where my grandparents would picnic on nicer days.
